I help you build associations to recall the most common English words and phrases as we build a deck of digital flashcards together in the Quizlet program.  I also help you recall this new vocabulary by helping you study with your deck and with other images. I help you take this vocabulary and build interesting simple sentences to express your ideas. 

For students at low-intermediate level and above, I offer conversation practice using the speaking topics from the Internet Teaching English as a Second Language Journal, such as traffic accidents, food, and digital life, as well as conversations on the topics important to you.  In these lessons I am your conversation partner, responding to you with natural comments and questions.   Our goal is for you to practice your recall of English words and phrases in real time, but also for you to practice expressing your way "around" an idea when you can't easily recall the English word or phrase,  Of course, I also provide grammar error correction.  I write the correct sentence in a Google document, so that you or I put the sentences onto flashcards for you to review later.

In all these lessons, translation from your native language is used carefully.   Translation can interfere with your ability to start thinking in English.

What started as a volunteering project in a French high school became my profession when I got my first job as an English teacher in a language school in Hungary. I gained a lot of experience there, teaching business English and everyday English courses for all levels, mostly for small groups of adults. When I started travelling, I moved on to teaching online, giving 1-to-1 lessons to adults from all over the world. Currently I am living in Italy, and while I'm working for a local language school, I keep teaching online because I travel a lot, and working remotely allows me to continue doing what I love, from anywhere in the world.

I have a Master's degree in Teaching English and a level 5 TEFL certification. I have been teaching for more than five years now, from Hungarian to French to Italian schools, as well as having students from many other nationalities through online teaching.

When you become my student I will ask about your goals, assess your level, and recommend a course book based on your level and needs. In case you would only like to practice communication or wouldn't like to learn from a book, we can also simply talk and occassionally use some worksheets to make the lessons more varied and enjoyable. All my lessons are generally very communicative – I try to stay in the background and correct you when necessary, and guide you through the exercises instead of giving you the answers. I am a professional English teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience mainly in US - NYC and UK - East Midlands. Initially as a college English and Maths teacher, these days I teach online. My learners are students who tend to improve their school grades, students who are preparing for international exams, business professionals who work or intend to work for international companies or people who learn English for pleasure.  For every individual I usually prepare some tasks for a free talk, grammar practice or a role-play situation with targeting vocabulary and phrases. Hi there! I'm a Native English Teacher from the Unites Sates, with over 12 years of experience teaching students from all over the world. Not only a teacher, but a lover of languages, I speak 3 languages fluently and 5 languages in total. I grew up speaking English and Spanish, and after completing my studies, I decided to move to Hong Kong, where I learned Cantonese (southern Chinese) and taught English for 9 years.

In Hong Kong I taught conversational English as well as English in theater, with an emphasis on natural flowing speech and emotional expression within the dialogues, erasing those old monotone/ robotic style of speaking habits a lot of students picked up in school (no disrespect to the schools! They’ve served their purpose!) I've also taught poetry for students to balance the very technical, Left-brain dominant grammar based lesson with a more expressive, Right-brain dominant and playful form like music and poetry, and theater.

One thing that sets me apart from most English teachers is that I know what it’s like first hand to work and live in a foreign language environment as I've also performed staged dramas in Cantonese! I certainly do know what it’s like to be on stage with all eyes on you, a bunch of native speakers listening to me, who has just learned to speak it a few years ago only!
