Hello! My name is Josh, and I'm a TEFL-certified, native English tutor with a background in creative writing and theatre. 

I believe language learning should be exciting, not a cause of stress. It's just another mode of expression, after all. It's like learning to paint or to draw, to walk or to dance; it takes some time to master the first few steps, but once a student gets moving through the language, they'll soon find they're able to express their true personality in no time at all. My role is to help you through all of those steps, whether you're an advanced student or just starting, and I do this by creating a learning environment that's completely individualised to you, your learning style, and goals. 

I am teaching a variety of students, engaging in conversation practice, practising listening, reading, and writing skills, studying grammar, preparing for exams, and even helping students who are interested in taking their creative writing to the next level! I believe in making language learning as immersive as possible. My favourite thing about teaching is meeting people from all over with completely different personalities and stories. It's a pleasure to hear their points of view and talk about pretty much everything. Being a teacher means you are also learning. And this learning never stops! Every interaction and conversation is an opportunity to see the world differently. 

Furthermore, I'm also an avid writer and reader myself, and have since been conducting very successful creative writing lessons. The whole purpose of these is to enable you to unlock your connection with the muse, establish your writing practice, and draw on your individual idiosyncrasies and unique experiences to find your own voice and style. Throughout this process, we'll be establishing writing exercises inside and outside of the classroom, as well as sampling, discovering and digesting the literature that personally speaks to you. 

One more thing. Laughter isn't only encouraged in my classroom. I think it's necessary!

Hi there! My name is Alessia and I'm a certified English teacher from Canada. I've been living in Lucca, Italy for the past seven years and I love it! 

I've been teaching for over seven years now. In 2016 I completed my TESOL certificate and shortly thereafter began teaching at a private elementary school. I've worked with people ages 5-55 and my favourite thing about teaching is getting to know people from different cultures and learning all about their customs and traditions. My second favourite thing is seeing my students succeed and achieve their language goals! 

My approach to teaching depends on the individual needs of my students. Each lesson is customized to the unique goals of my students. That being said, you can definitely expect homework in my classes! For conversation lessons, we'll focus on using media to expand your vocabulary and spend the entire lesson speaking about different topics. For those who need a grammar brush-up, we'll use various books to support your learning but still focus on conversation to help you fully integrate what you've just learned! 

I also have experience preparing students for the IELTS exam for both immigration and academic purposes. I absolutely love the IELTS exam in that it provides students with a real challenge and something to aspire to. I have a wide variety of resources that I use to help you prepare which cover everything from grammar and vocabulary to the actual "how-to's" of writing the exam. If you are interested in working with me on exam prep, I suggest AT LEAST 3-6 months to prepare properly for the exam since you'll not only need to improve your language skills but also your exam-taking skills.

Hello! I'm Julian. I am from South Africa. I have a 420-hour TEFL Diploma (Level 5) which is equivalent to a CELTA-qualification. Me as a Teacher
I am a professional English teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience mainly in US - NYC and UK - East Midlands. Initially as a college English and Maths teacher, these days I teach online. My learners are students who tend to improve their school grades, students who are preparing for international exams, business professionals who work or intend to work for international companies or people who learn English for pleasure.  For every individual I usually prepare some tasks for a free talk, grammar practice or a role-play situation with targeting vocabulary and phrases. There is always a summary, a given feedback at the end of the class which helps my learners to make progress highly visible.

I believe that every learner is different and teaching them should be personalized. I like to apply different teaching methods to see which one would be the most productive. Of course, I need to meet student several times to be able to find out his/her learning style and be able to create a teaching strategy. I have extensive experience in coaching and business, having run my own sports coaching business for 20 years.  I teach conversational English on a thematic basis (topic-related) with an emphasis on correct grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. I prepare students for IELTS and TOEFL exams.  In every lesson, you will be encouraged to feel comfortable speaking English, whatever your level. I live in the South West of England, and I have a standard British accent. I speak Spanish reasonably well and a little French. I have spent 15 years learning Spanish so I know what it is like to lack confidence and to feel that you can't remember anything under pressure. But I also know what a joy it is to be able to communicate effectively.  It is also why I love teaching because I meet people from all over the world and I learn so much about other cultures and countries.

I practice a teaching method called oral agility whereby all grammar and vocabulary are taught through speaking exercises. This means modelling words, repeating phrases and conversation exercises.
